Are you between 20 and 32 Years old, at the beginning of your artistic career and interested in meeting with people from all around the world?
Are you asking yourself how to artistically handle the difficult times for arts and education in your local work field ? Do you still want to connect with people around the world and work on solidarity and cross nationality in times of isolation?

We are looking for Participants!

We are looking for participants for the young IDEA Lab in Iceland between June 24 and July 4th 2022! The participants should be young theater educators, theater makers and practitioners or students in those fields aged between 20 and 32 years old, that are interested in taking part in a cross-cultural exchange with other young professionals on the topic of : Theater for all!
Participants should be interested in entering a process of artistic research and creating a devised performance for the 9th international IDEA Congress in Reykjavik. The project will be in English, so a good understanding and use of the language is important. The participation in the project is free of cost, but you have to arrange your travel costs.


The young IDEA Lab 2022 aims to bring together a cross-cultural group of young theater educators, theater makers, other artists and students in those fields of art education on the occasion of the 9th international IDEA Congress in Iceland. The exchange will start two weeks before the congress and end on the first day with a devised theatre performance of the results of the exchange.
The Lab 2022 will be a place to meet, work and learn from each other, while artistically researching the topic of “Theater for all: “Reclaiming our physical body: How can we make theater for all possible in times of a crisis?”
The participants will explore cross-cultural theater practices through peer to peer workshops, will artistically research the topic of the conference and create a performance of the generated artistic material. The results of the process also include artistic research and video material, submitted from various young IDEA members around the world that could not travel or participate.

• You have to have valid travel documents and take care of your visa requirements to travel.
• You have to be able to book your tickets and make travel arrangements. It is possible to apply for the solidarity fund through the Congress organizers (FLISS)
• You have to have proof of vaccination
• Deadline for applications of interest is the 25th of February 2022
(The application of interest is the first step to taking part in the project. It is not an acceptance nor it requires complete travel organization yet)
